The Instant Render feature automatically formats and updates your citations in real-time as you are working. When citing a reference with the Instant Render feature off, CiteRight will insert the full citation as a placeholder. After turning on Instant Render or clicking the Render Citations button, CiteRight will instantly render or "live update" all citations in context, adding ibid, supra, and short forms where necessary and saving you time in the process.

 

By default, the Instant Render feature is turned on. This means when you cite a reference, CiteRight will insert ibids/supras/hyperlinks/short forms as necessary. You may want to turn Instant Render off if your device is running slowly.

When turned off, the Book of Authorities and Table of Authorities can not be generated. Moreover, if any changes are made to your preferences, they will only be applied after clicking the Render Citations button. For lengthier documents, we recommend turning Instant Render off and instead clicking the "Render Citations" button every so often. CiteRight can render a batch of citations in about the same time it takes to render one individually, thus this approach can significantly boost performance. 

 

When Instant Render is on, the system will apply all formatting or ordering (ibid, supra) in real-time as you work. This is great when dealing with shorter documents, as it only takes a few seconds for CiteRight to render each citation in context.
